Spiking traffic on my site seems to indicate there is a lot of interest to BTFD anyway.
Welcome back to the site after the server upgrade. I think I’ve solved all the problems that we had on the old server, and it seems like the new server is much faster too. Please let me know if you notice any problems. Thanks!
After a week of late nights, really late nights, trying to fix the problems with my current web host, I’ve decided to move to a different host and upgrade to a faster, more powerful server. I’ll make the move to the new server this weekend while the precious-metal markets are closed. So, by Monday all the slow pages and errors should be fixed. I’ve already tested the new server, and I’m really pleased with the speed. After the transfer to the new server, APMEX and Kitco will return to the price tables, so when you see them in the tables, you’ll know the transfer is complete.
I can’t wait until the move is complete, so I can focus on developing the site instead of putting out fires. I have some new features in the pipeline that I think everyone will like and find very useful. I’ll be using them anyway :)
The recent upgrade to my server has caused some problems, which is why APMEX and Kitco prices are not being indexed at the moment. I’m considering moving to a new host because of the poor support at my current host. I’m working as hard as I can to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Comparegoldandsilverprices.com is in the process of migrating to a better, faster server. I’m not sure how long it will take, but there might be some down time during the process.
Sorry for the inconvenience,
I made the switch to A Small Orange for web hosting. I switched to A Small Orange in February 2013, and haven’t had any problems since then. So far, it’s the best web host I’ve had in 15 years. I was initially attracted to their hardware, which uses only SSDs, but it turns out the support is excellent as well.
Yesterday I added JM Bullion products to the pricing tables and dealer-review listings. So if you’ve used JM Bullion, please take a moment to write a review.
I’m a big fan of JM Bullion’s product offering, which focuses on core gold and silver products that are geared towards investors and precious metal stackers. This is especially helpful if you’re new to purchasing PMs because you don’t have to worry about accidentally purchasing odd brands or numismatic coins. To ensure authenticity, JM Bullion only buys directly from mints and distributors, and they do not buy any items from the general public.
I also like the JM Bullion attitude towards paper. JM Bullion does not hold PMs on account or offer paper metal investments because they believe “the only way to truly own precious metals is to hold them in your possession.”
Check out the JM Bullion site here: jmbullion.com.
Congratulations to Patrick_T, who will receive a Canadian Maple for his review of Goldmart. Please contact me if you do not receive an email from me.
Last night I redid a lot of the price-indexing code. You might have noticed some disruptions, but everything appears to be in working order now. Tonight I will continue making improvements to the code and adding new features.
A visitor pointed out that I wasn’t taking the sale prices for Kitco’s gold coin prices and silver coin prices. I think I fixed the issue now.
Submit a dealer review for a chance to win a 1 oz silver Canadian Maple coin. On October 31, I’ll look at the ten most thorough reviews and randomly select one to receive a shiny, new 2012 1 oz silver Canadian Maple coin. It’s that simple.
If you’re the lucky winner, I’ll contact you by email, to obtain a shipping address. Your email will never be used for any other purpose or shared with a third party.
I’ve been doing quite a bit of behind-the-scenes coding to improve the site lately. When I’m done with that, I’ll start adding more PM dealers to the price tables.
